Course Content

Each course is crafted for the student’s unique needs. These needs are assessed during a detailed needs assessment process:
 

  •  Short level assessment – 15-minute conversation to check the participant’s language level
  •  Needs analysis – 15-minute interview to gather the participant’s specific language needs
  •  Course design & proposal – Blue Pencil Business prepares a course outline and shares with the  client / participant for approval.
  •  Agree format and schedule of the course – once the course content is agreed

 

A typical course would combine some of the following elements:

 

Key Communicative Skills

Intensive practice in the communicative skills that the participant requires for their role, e.g. leading a meeting, giving presentations, negotiating deals, managing a team etc

 

Core Business Terms

Building up the participant’s vocabulary connected to their particular line of work, e.g. IT, HRM, Project Management, Production, Finance, Sales, Marketing etc

 

Confidence in Social Situations

A key focus of such a course is building up the participant’s ability to socialise effectively in English. Whether it’s making small talk at the start of a meeting or chatting over lunch, the participant will learn key expressions and conversation strategies to feel more confident when engaging with their colleagues and clients.

 

Brushing Up Grammar & Eliminating Errors

Many business people need feedback that they are expressing themselves correctly in English. That’s why, the course includes simulations and role plays, after which the participant receives detailed feedback and error correction, as well as guidance on correct English usage.
